Ending our tour of Istanbul...
|

We ended our tour of Dolmabahce Palace around noon... still got time to go get some lunch and buy the Turkish lamps (had reserved this for last... as what we buy is dependent on how much money we have left  ).
So we walked back to the Findikli tram stop... while waiting for the tram, we "practiced" our Turkish saying the names of the places. Not easy... the pronunciation is different from the spelling.
Since it was Friday, the men need to go for Friday afternoon prayers and hence they close their shops. When we arrived at Kapali Carsi, the azan was being called and all the men were rushing towards the mosque. So we took the opportunity to have lunch while waiting for the shops to open. One of the things that I will miss most about Istanbul is the delicious Turkish food 
With what money I have left I bought a beautiful colourful lamp... had to bargain hard for it... it was literally my last lira and I had to make sure we had enough to pay for the taxi to the airport. Ahmet was very nice and gave both of us a great deal... with a free gift to add 
When we left his shop Param Bitti... (i'm out of money)
